Pop Brixton: A Couple of Great Spots That Won't Break The Bank

Say hello to Pop Brixton! Welcome back to our cheap eats series, where every month we find you some of the most delicious, independent spots in London where you can grab a meal for £10 and under (and admittedly, sometimes a smidgen above, but please forgive us!).
This month, we're at Pop Brixton, a great place to meet friends if everyone can't agree on what cuisine they're feeling! Open markets like this one have a great vibe and a sociable feel, and particularly so in the summer months, when they'll have live music at the weekends and big screens for sports viewing. Established in 2015, Pop Brixton is a hub for local businesses, food vendors, and cultural events, all housed within repurposed shipping containers. The space was created to support local enterprises and provide a platform for startups and social enterprises.
The only issue is that you'll often find yourself paying top dollar for food! That's precisely why we've made it our mission to visit and select some of the best places to eat for under a tenner, so you can have fun at Pop Brixton without stretching your budget.
You need to get your mouth around one of these Indian-inspired Bhangra Burgers! Owned by husband and wife Alec and Liz, Baba G's bold and beautiful flavours have captured the hearts of London locals for over ten years. They were even featured on BBC’s Million Pound Menu in 2018 and took home the prize.
Although their burgers are slightly over the £10 budget, many of their options are just £10.50 and are all stuffed with chutneys, pickles and a crispy onion bhaji. Check out the 'Naga Delhi Double' with a double lamb patty, ‘The Cheeky Tikka Chicken’ with chicken thighs in a black onion seed bun, their ‘Paneer Saag Burger’ with spinach, mint, coriander and mehti saag sandwiched between spiced paneer wedges, or ‘The Baba V Burger’ with a Moving Mountains patty with aubergine chutney and vegan mint raijta.
They also have a site in the West Yard Stall in Camden, and one in London Bridge's Vinegar Yard.
Serving some of the finest Thai food, Prad Thai’s dishes are guaranteed to be fresh and full of flavour. The food is also deliciously authentic, since the founders of Prad Thai, who hail from the city of Ayutthaya, have been serving their family recipes for generations. The father of this stall opened a restaurant in London over 25 years ago, and they’ve been sharing their incredible cuisine ever since.
Choose between a classic pad thai for £9, or their incredible yellow curry with cauliflower, chickpea, potato, rice and cucumber pickle for £10, which is guaranteed to leave you full to the brim. They also serve plenty of starters and sides for £5-£6, including spring rolls, wrapped shrimp, and tom yam squid.
